Overview
The Genesis Staff is the first story in the Purge story arc about the fall of the UNE. The Genesis Staff in question can be viewed on more on the Genesis Staff (object) page. Anyways....
Prologue: The Manipulator
A group of scientists feverishly worked on an unseen object, wiping their sweat on their sleeves as they fumbled about, grabbing materials, scanners, and a strange, mysterious green crystal object. The orbital probe shifted position slightly and switched sights in order to see more clearly. The operator sighed as it circled. He disliked probes with the boring shows. But this was the most important! If the project the humans were working on posed a threat to the Conqrix, then he'd have to alert his superiors. The Probe assumed position. Indeed, he could now see what he was working on. It appeared to be a metallic apparatus of some sort. He had the probe scan the mysterious crystal. Sigh... he couldn't wait to get back to his apartment and watch the battle shows- the screen suddenly flashed red. Looking down, he saw what had caused the alarm. It was enough to shock him into staring emptily at the data in front of him. Usually, seeing something that would prompt a war with an empire was a situation to cheer for, since it heralded some of the best shows for the Conqrix. But what he saw here... He quickly sent the data to the Watcher.
The Watcher also was wide-eyed at the news. "This is... this... the UNE were always rather ahead in technology, but this was ridiculous," he thought, "Sovereign needs to see this." He then reported, and opened a COM link to the Conqrix Manipulators.
Xyrith, the most famous of all Manipulators, was practicing staff combat when the commander called. "Yes? Who is this? Oh, greetings, Commander Sar' Skuther. Yes." His brow furrowed. "At war? Did you run this by Sovereign? You did? Hm..." His face suddenly split into a grotesque smile. "It will be my pleasure... When do I depart? No, I think I should go when they're done with the project. No, just trust me, I know my work." He switched the COM off and peered into a mirror at his human face. Not that he was human. Not one bit. The Conqrix had simply grafted human skin onto his metallic skeleton, hence his would-be human look, were it not for his shocking thinness. He smiled again. This should be entertaining...

Chapter One: Gambit
Dr. Nathans was an excitable fellow, to say the least. Yet, this time, he had quite a good reason. The greatest creation of the century was created, by him! Well, technically, his team. Anyways, he was ready to show it to the world, which was quite literal. He was to, following the UNE treaty, show all of the different nations any scientific projects he was working on. Sweating his pores dry, he rubbed his hands nervously, waiting for the ambassadors to arrive. With a soft click, the door to the lab opened, and in walked the ambassadors. They all looked at the doctor curiously to see what this new invention was. The doctor in question was still as nervous as a five year old at the dentist's. "Ah...g-g-good evening, gentlemen! I am Doctor Matthew Nathans, and... and... I-I-I am here to present to you the project my t-t-team has been working on for 20 years!" he stammered awkwardly. The Ambassadors weren't impressed. Inhaling deeply, he plunged on, "I am sure w-w-we have all wanted to colonize a strategically located p-p-planet before! Right? Y-y-yes, thank you. However, we've all been h-hindered by the low terrascore! It is too expensive to have to buy atmosphere devices from each other!" The ambassadors glared at him at that. "Or at least, it's inconvenient! But no worries! N-n-now we have what I call the Genesis Staff! It is a staff-like object that is powered by a rare element we've only recently discovered! It utilizes amazing energy that instantly creates an atmosphere on a planet. Then, it simply becomes a matter of planting seeds, placing animals, and such! It can even create the perfect habitats for specific creatures! It is an amazing invention!" As he spoke, Dr. Nathans became more and more confident. "To use it, you can simply place it in another one of my inventions, the Harness!" He moved to another invention. "The Harness can be placed within a ship. If you were to put, say, a plasma rifle in it, the Harness would "harness" the energy and, on order, fire it! So if you were to use the Genesis staff, simply put it into a Harness and watch it go to work!" The Ambassadors all clapped and congratulated the doctor.
After some refreshments, the ambassadors congratulated the doctor some more, and left. Alone, Dr. Nathans hummed as he joyfully poured a decanter of beautiful Red Wine to a glass, watching it fill up. Once filled to the brim, he flamboyantly picked it up, and downed it in a gulp, nodding appreciatively. "The presentation had gone beautifully," he thought, "and they'll be buying my Harnesses! Oh, it all went beautifully!" He poured another drink, downed it, then moved to the buffet table to grab some jellied fruit. Before he got to it, however, a voice behind him said, "Celebrating?" He turned around, and to his surprise, it was the Russian ambassador. "Oh, greetings, ambassador. Why are you still here?" he said with some confusion.
"Admiring your work, of course."
"You've had plenty of time to admire it earlier."
"I've wanted a closer look at it myself," he said, drawing nearer.
The doctor involuntarily stepped back. "He's shockingly thin, isn't he..." he thought. Indeed, the ambassador was quite thin. Uncannily thin. "Unearthly thin," he mentally whispered.
"In fact, I'd rather take it in for studying..."
The doctor had no time to comprehend what the ambassador had just said before he was knocked out by the ambassador's walking stick. The ambassador turned away from the doctor and burnt a hole into the glass casing of the Staff and the Harness with a Russian Laser-Cutter. As he walked away with the two inventions, he, whether on purpose or not, dropped the Laser-cutter.

Chapter Two: Introductions
On the Brazilian coast...
The Guard peered into the night air, breathing deeply. "Screw patrol. I can't wait to get back to the mess hall for some smokes," he thought. Like all members of the Red Hawk Gang, he had an unstoppable passion for marijuana. It wasn't going to last long. All he felt was a sudden tug on the back of his neck that grew to become an unstoppable dragging. He slammed into the source, a grapple, and a knee. He blearily looked up just in time to see an elbow with a long, sharp, metallic object sprouting out of it stab into his chest. "Oh great, no more smokes," he thought as the his world blackened and faded.
Spec Ops Cybernetic Agent David Knight rolled the dead gangster off his knee and hid him in a corner. "Now for the rest..." he thought. He carefully creeped to the next curve and peered beyond it. His pulse quickened as he caught sight of another guard. This man met a similar fate to the last guard. He continued his way, slowly making his way to his intended destination. After dropping a few more guards, he finally got to the security room. He peered at the camera screens over the watcher's shoulder to see if his tracks were covered. They were covered quite well. He had waited, after all, for the guards to get into a position off the cameras' peripheral visions. He paused, tensed, then lunged forward at the watcher. He grabbed him by the back of the neck and the mouth and snapped his neck. Shoving the body under the desk, he checked the screens of the security room. Finally, he found what he was looking for: the head of the Red Hawks. The man, Andreas Phillipo had no idea what was going on, still shouting angrily on his phone. He checked for the room he was in, then hacked into the security system, locking the door to Phillipo's room. He then, after looking around, found a vent above him. Compressing his cybernetics, he clambered into the ventilation shaft. "The movies make ventilation shafts look so big... darn Hollywood," he thought, gritting his teeth as his Cybernetics scraped against the shaft wall, making an alarming amount of noise. This was his fault, he knew. He could've gotten an update on his cybernetics, reducing them in size until he was the size of a normal human being. "But no, I had to rush to my next mission," he thought bitterly. After scraping through the shafts some more, he came to the room of the target. He he gingerly removed the Vent grid and stealthily crept out of the shaft. Or at least, that was the plan. Actually, he fell out of the shaft. With a crash. Andreas turned around. And was met by a hand on his mouth and a scary-looking face inches from his own. He put his finger to his lips, the universal sh-sh-sh motion. Phillipo then noticed a sharp jabbing at his chest. He looked down and saw the jet-black silenced revolver pushed into his chest, around his heart. Knight spun him around, with the gun jabbing into his back. "Hoo! Having to get up from falling from a ventilation shaft in less then 5 milliseconds is not easy," he chuckled.
A sudden blast knocked the locked door down. Spinning around, he saw a horde of Red Hawk members grinning at him. Knight rolled his eyes, blew out a sigh, then detonated the sticky bombs he had shot from his helicopter previously. The ensuing explosion wasn't strong enough to kill the gangsters, except for those standing on the bombs, though they did cause quite a distraction.
